Class Session 1
ej for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
Doesn't really sound like you're in a gym (unless it's a very small one), but I like your laid back, smooth style.
Nice job!
0:13 I hear “guarantee” rather than “guaranteed”, be aware of enunciation and when appropriate make sure you pronounce the word completely.
0:19 When you misread (happens to everyone and it’s okay!), it’s highly encouraged to start again at the beginning of the sentence or paragraph or a point that would make it easy to remove and replace the mistake during editing. If you just keep going and don’t return to a solid point that makes it easy to edit out the mistake, you may need to come back later and re-record, and it becomes challenging to make it sound the same as the original recording. So, a good rule of thumb is to record so that it’s easy to edit later.
0:30 I hear “riss” rather than “risk” just another item to be aware of for enunciation to fully pronounce the word.
0:33 “Entrée” was read as “entry”. Be careful about changing the words in the script. :)
0:37 “no one will call on you” was kind of run together. Just be aware of that during recording to clearly enunciate and pronounce all of the words well.
1:32, 1:57 “purchase” instead of “purchases” - minor word change
1:49 “All” added to the script. When reading auditions in general, do pay attention to not changing words in the copy for at least one of your takes. It’s okay to make some changes or play around with the script and include improv, but it’s also important to be able to read copy as written - after all, the writer may have chosen the wording in the script for a particular reason and could possibly be offended at having it changed by someone just hired to voice it - so just bear that in mind.
For the purpose of this homework to work on projection, there was room for improvement as this felt like it was more of a normal voiceover speaking level.
However, that being said, it was a solid read with great use of change ups to differentiate and keep the read interesting. Well done!
Thank you for the feedback. I listened to everyone else's reads before listening to mine again and I probably need to crank the gain up for sure and more energy from the diaphragm. That may slow my read down until I learn to do it naturally. I did add some NR and when I took that off it was a bit louder but not much.
Thanks for the feedback.
