Kat Pepin for Raven Gosse

Paid: Flat Rate 20 GBP
Role assigned to: Jess Lambert

Current Plot line - She is acting as a double agent for the Purgatorians and Abraham.

Main character who requires a lot of commitment as she is in the show a long time and can't be written out because she is tied to the main story in a huge way

Female - 25-35 - Elegant British accent like Morrigan's in Dragon Age (Please see video). Those with a British accent will be considered before an American accent, but if all else fails, an American accent will suffice if I'm forced into it. She is heavily inspired by Morrigan, so please make sure you can provide the tones she speaks in. Don't make the delivery flat please. Clear audio only please.

Raven is sarcastic and condescending to all but Abraham and Demetrius. She believes herself to be above everyone else in the group. She can manipulate people to do things her way quite easily. I would like her to have sharp wit and mocking and condescending tones like Morrigan in Dragon Age. She is mean through sarcasm and jest, not mean directly.

Raven would see humor as a weakness and would not chuckle unless she found something absolutely ridiculous or was embarrassed, such as when she thinks she is getting flattered as she is not used to such things happening. Keep her sarcasm on show as well as her bluntness, she always cuts straight to the point.

Please see this video to see how Morrigan speaks. If you need more examples, just look up Morrigan, Dragon Age.

  • (Friendly) I am not sure whether he knows that or not, it was never mentioned however we both know Abraham likes to hold his cards close to his chest, especially where the council is concerned. He may know more than he is letting on however I will act as a double agent, acting on behalf of both you and my uncle.

  • (Condescending, mocking) Oh, I underestimated you. You can try my dear but you will never be able to see the real me, I will continue to amaze and surprise you throughout our journey. Everytime you think you have figured me out, something will happen that will blow your theory into the tiniest pieces. I would not even bother trying.

  • (Condescending, mocking) I speak to him as his superior whereas you all stumble upon your words. You show him you hold no confidence and he will not see this as a true formation until you do. You remember what you said to me outside the church Jamie? How official you sounded? This needs to be applied to all those who try to undermine your authority. When we tried to gain access to the barracks you acted like a little puppy who had just urinated in his masters shoes.

Line 1 - This was good. No problems with it.

Take 2 - Not sure what happened but your voice was loud to begin with, as though you were speaking very close to the microphone and then moved back. Overall, this was fine though.

Line 2 - Once again, this was fine. However, are you American? I thought I heard a slight accent slip out in this line. 'You can try my dear... Real me'

Take 2 - This lost the American from take 1. This one was fine too.

Line 3 - This one was fines too, although I think 'barracks' gave away the fact you may be American.

Take 2 - A bit more mocking on the 'urinated' part of the line but fine again.

Overall. I listened back to them in one go as I thought maybe take 1 was more American, take 2 British. It seems like British was attempted in both so be mindful of the American accent slipping through.

It sounded like Morrigan's tones to me, which is what was needed. The voice was good, elegant and smooth. I feel that if your cast, the full scripts may let you see which parts are to be more mocking than others, with context given with others lines.

Raven is a long, long role though. Commitment is a must as I can't be recasting her all the time. It's only a few hours of recording some months of the year though.

Thank you for the very thorough feedback! I am American, and intended for the first take to be a more subtle accent and the second take to be a thicker accent. I understand that this role requires a longer-term commitment, and would not have auditioned if I was unable to make that commitment. Feel free to reach out to me in DMs if you want to hear anything else, or discuss anything further!

I have to make sure you're aware as one of the stand ins refused the role before recasting started as they never realized how much commitment it needed. So they backed out of it. I'd rather play it safe and mention it.

I appreciate you taking the time to clarify. I am prepared to make that level of commitment if cast. I look forward to hearing your decision!
