The Purgatorians recasting call | Original ambitious audio drama
Jess Lambert for Raven Gosse
Current Plot line - She is acting as a double agent for the Purgatorians and Abraham.
Main character who requires a lot of commitment as she is in the show a long time and can't be written out because she is tied to the main story in a huge way
Female - 25-35 - Elegant British accent like Morrigan's in Dragon Age (Please see video). Those with a British accent will be considered before an American accent, but if all else fails, an American accent will suffice if I'm forced into it. She is heavily inspired by Morrigan, so please make sure you can provide the tones she speaks in. Don't make the delivery flat please. Clear audio only please.
Raven is sarcastic and condescending to all but Abraham and Demetrius. She believes herself to be above everyone else in the group. She can manipulate people to do things her way quite easily. I would like her to have sharp wit and mocking and condescending tones like Morrigan in Dragon Age. She is mean through sarcasm and jest, not mean directly.
Raven would see humor as a weakness and would not chuckle unless she found something absolutely ridiculous or was embarrassed, such as when she thinks she is getting flattered as she is not used to such things happening. Keep her sarcasm on show as well as her bluntness, she always cuts straight to the point.
Please see this video to see how Morrigan speaks. If you need more examples, just look up Morrigan, Dragon Age.

(Friendly) I am not sure whether he knows that or not, it was never mentioned however we both know Abraham likes to hold his cards close to his chest, especially where the council is concerned. He may know more than he is letting on however I will act as a double agent, acting on behalf of both you and my uncle.
(Condescending, mocking) Oh, I underestimated you. You can try my dear but you will never be able to see the real me, I will continue to amaze and surprise you throughout our journey. Everytime you think you have figured me out, something will happen that will blow your theory into the tiniest pieces. I would not even bother trying.
(Condescending, mocking) I speak to him as his superior whereas you all stumble upon your words. You show him you hold no confidence and he will not see this as a true formation until you do. You remember what you said to me outside the church Jamie? How official you sounded? This needs to be applied to all those who try to undermine your authority. When we tried to gain access to the barracks you acted like a little puppy who had just urinated in his masters shoes.
Line 1 - Only halfway through the line right now and you have the silky smooth Morrigan voice. I can hear that already. Listened to it all. Loved it. I can hear Raven right there. You got exactly the right amount of friendliness needed
Line 2 - Loved it again. It sounded as though she was mocking them and being condescending just as the directions stated
Line 3 - The only fault I can pick up on is 'Urinated' which should be emphasized with sarcastic tones. Apart from that I loved it.
You have so far got the closest to how I hear Raven in my mind when scripting her. In fact, I would say you are only a couple of steps away from actually being the actual voice I hear. To say your audio was raw, it was very clear too, which did impress me.
The voice was perfect, but you need to know where to apply the sarcasm. I know auditions are harder since they are out of context lines, but I can see you being able to find those moments with the full scripts.
I will however say that Raven is tied directly to the main story, which does not end until season 5. I can't write her out of the show without giving any major rewrites to the scripts so this role does require a lot of commitment. It's only a few hours recording per month, but it will be for many, many months. If the show gets monetized, production can move along much more quickly though.
Hello, very glad you liked it. Out of the DA trilogy, Origins remains my favourite, and Morrigan was an absolute revelation when I played it (alongside many others, but man alive, was she so well written). Are you happy for me to DM you?
Yes, DM away. You understood Morrigan and the tones she spoke in. This allowed you to get close to my vision of Raven. I was impressed, truly I was.
