Megurine (巡音): Meguri (巡) means "to go around; to circulate" and Ne (音) means "sound; noise".

Luka (ルカ): Ru shares the same pronunciation as 流, meaning "flow"; Ka can mean either "song; singing" (歌) or "aroma; scent" (香).

Altogether, her name means "songs to all around the world as scent spreads."[1] This coincides with Luka's concept as the first bilingual VOCALOID, "traveling sound", meaning words that are translated between languages.
