Magie had a complicated life. She is naturally gifted at healing but was too old to be trained as a Jedi so she was assigned to be a healer. She fell in love with the person who rescued her (Rey)  from her home planet when there was a war on the citizens. However she is devastated and now an empty shell of her former self ever since Rey left her behind. Ever since she met Thelma, She now has the determination and the resources to find her love once again.
