Well, you read the lines correctly. But I don't feel like there was any real feeling behind them. Nathaniel is an old, withered bird with a bit of a southern drawl. I didn't get that with your line reads. I suggest looking at actors like Sam Elliot or Matthew McConaughey and studying their voices and how they'd sound with age. As time passed, he would shift his focus from adventuring to family. While he has had issues trying to connect with his birth son, he would put all his love and attention on his grandson Malco, hoping he will bring honor back to the family name.
