CHARACTER SUMMARY:

Shroud is the enigmatic and fanatical leader of the secretive Sun Truther movement, a group devoted to the belief that the sun is real and that it’s possible to escape the eternal night of Nox Aeterna. Convinced he has been "blessed" by the goddess Sol to determine who is worthy to ascend to the paradise of The World Beyond, Shroud has taken it upon himself to act as judge and executioner, killing those he deems deserving. Charismatic and chilling, his actions remain shrouded in secrecy until Kat and Vox Memorius expose the horrifying truth behind his twisted mission. A dangerous zealot, Shroud’s warped convictions make him a formidable and unpredictable adversary.

PERFORMANCE:

This is a very dark character, think someone along the lines of a serial murderer. Make sure to convey that darkness and their twisted mind. This character will return in a future episode as well.

LINES:

SHROUD: Do not be afraid, you have been chosen to walk the path to The World Beyond.

MARA: W-what are you talking about?

He brandishes a ceremonial sword, the blade glinting in the moonlight.

SHROUD: For you, the sun will soon rise again. It will only take but a moment, child, so set your mind at peace.

He raises it to the quivering Mara.

SHROUD: For only in death, can you return to the light!

--

SHROUD: Kneel before the might of Sol. And you will perhaps be saved.

--

SHROUD: I am her emissary—Sol's Shroud—charged with delivering the people from eternal darkness. In me, a candle burns; in me, a spark ignites. The night recoils, the moon averts its gaze. Paradise is forbidden to me, but I guide others to a fruit my tongue will never taste.
