Writer for Cosmic Chaos (13+ Animated Series)

Role:

We are looking for a creative and experienced writer to help craft the engaging storylines, character arcs, and dialogues for Cosmic Chaos—a 13+ animated series blending futuristic technology, magic, and adventure. The writer will work closely with the director and the creative team to develop each episode’s plot, ensuring it aligns with the show's overarching narrative and tone.

The show follows a diverse team of heroes as they navigate personal struggles, powerful foes, and cosmic mysteries. The series aims to provide exciting, emotional, and humorous content that will resonate with both younger and older audiences.

Responsibilities:

Writing Episodes:

The writer will be responsible for writing scripts for multiple episodes, each contributing to the larger story arc. Each script will need to be engaging, well-paced, and filled with memorable dialogue that showcases the unique personalities of each character.

Character Development:

Work on developing the complex relationships between characters, ensuring that each character's motivations, growth, and challenges are explored throughout the series. Your writing will help to highlight the emotional and psychological depth of the characters, making them relatable to the audience.

World-Building:

Develop the unique universe of Cosmic Chaos, including its rules, tech, magic systems, and lore. The writer must be able to create an immersive setting that feels expansive and grounded within the context of the story.

Story Arcs and Plot Points:

Collaborate with the show’s creator to outline long-term story arcs, including the development of key plot points, major twists, and character journeys. The writer will need to balance episodic storylines with overarching themes that tie the show together.

Dialogue and Scene Writing:

Write engaging and dynamic dialogue that fits each character’s personality and role within the team. You'll be responsible for creating moments of tension, humour, action, and heart through the interactions between characters.

Ideal Skills:

Experience with Animation Writing:

Previous experience writing for animation, comics, or video games is highly desirable. The writer should understand how to structure stories for the visual medium, ensuring that the dialogue, pacing, and character actions align with the animation.

Strong Dialogue Skills:

The writer must be able to craft witty, emotionally charged, and unique dialogue for each character. Being able to write dialogue that feels natural and authentic while also moving the plot forward is key.

World-Building:

The ability to create immersive, original settings and systems for magic, technology, and world rules. The writer should have experience in developing complex worlds that feel both fantastical and grounded in logic.

Pacing and Structure:

The writer must understand how to structure an episode of animation, including the balance of exposition, conflict, resolution, and character growth within each act. Strong pacing is essential for keeping the audience engaged.

Collaborative Mindset:

Ability to work closely with the team, including directors, animators, and voice actors, to ensure the story aligns with the visual and performance aspects of the show.

What We Need From You:

A writing sample or portfolio showcasing your previous work. Ideally, this should include an example of scriptwriting, storytelling, or dialogue writing. Please provide links to any relevant work (including web series, short films, comics, or scripts).

A brief outline or treatment of a Cosmic Chaos episode that you would pitch (for example, Episode 1 or a concept that would fit into the series). This will give us an idea of how you approach storytelling, character development, and pacing.

A short description of any relevant experience you have working in animation, writing for a 13+ audience, or working within specific genres (such as sci-fi, action, or fantasy).

Your availability and rates for writing an episode or working on a long-term project.

Bonus Skills:

Experience with Sci-Fi/Fantasy:

Experience writing for sci-fi, fantasy, or action-adventure series, with a focus on world-building and tech-magic systems.

Understanding of Character-Driven Stories:

Ability to write compelling character arcs and understand the emotional journey of the characters.

Humour Writing:

Experience in writing witty, humorous moments to balance the high stakes of the series.

Collaboration:

The role requires remote collaboration with the production team. You will receive feedback and revisions, and your scripts will be fine-tuned to match the show's evolving creative direction.
