Class Session 2
Peter Pollack for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
I feel like you had a nice confidence in your read. There was also good variation and use of change-ups to keep it interesting.
However, for this exercise in practicing enunciation and articulation - clearly hitting all of the sounds in the words, there were several that could have been hit harder and made more clear. For example, in "Peter" at 0:02 be sure that the "T" and "D" sounds differ as the T sounds like a D in "Peter". In Padderton you can hear the difference between the D and T which is good.
0:32 is another example with the word "patterns" where, for articulation practice, you could hit the "T" sounds with more clarity.
1:20 the ending "T" in "that" could be improved for articulation practice as well as it is mostly silent.
0:10 The word "dough" was kind of quiet and not really enunciated.
1:00 "Peter began working" kind of ran together. Just something to be aware of and mindful of enunciating each word.
The pacing was maybe a little on the swift side, which can cause the words to run together more. For enunciation and articulation practice you will want to be sure you are reading at a pace that will allow you to say all of the words and syllables clearly and completely. I don't believe this script required projection like the bug script, but that could be another component to practice further, which comes in handy in character voices like with video games and such.
Now, with that being said, overall the read was done well! I can see you finding success with this type of read in audiobooks. Keep up the good work!
I didn't see the tongue twister with your homework submission, so friendly reminder to keep practicing those too. :) The reason we practice enunciation and articulation and even exaggerate while practicing these is so it gets our minds and mouths used to not being lazy when we speak, which is very important with voice acting to ensure we are clearly heard and understood. That's why people pay for professional voice overs! :D
Thank you!
