Class Session 1
James Bailey for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
First thing I noticed is the word “selection” was cut off or misread and you said “select” instead. Make sure for auditions that you stay accurate to the script (unless they give permission for changes) and relisten for any mistakes in words (I’m ignoring since we said to leave in all mistakes, but just pointing out in case you didn’t know). Sometimes if you say a word differently, depending on the word, it can actually change the meaning and overall what is being said. Just be mindful of small things like that!
I love that you were emphasizing parts to convey more excitement! That’s a great way to really enhance the script, especially for “boring” commercials and narrations. Our job is to bring life to the character and script and keep our audience drawn in, so that’s why having variations of emotions, pacing, tone is super important.
I am missing a big thing from this read - projection! I want you to really push your voice out there to fit the scene of being in a gymnasium with no mic and someone needs to hear you from the other end of the gym. If you listen back to this, do you think your voice fits that scenario? Remember that having enough air in your lungs plays a huge role. Continue practicing your breathing and straw exercises and you’ll see the improvement!
My bad, didn't see that I cut off the word "selection" or misread it! I definitely struggled with the projection piece. Will continue with the exercises. Thanks for the feedback Meagan, I greatly appreciate it.
