Just a quick reminder: slates aren’t always necessary, so unless an audition specifically asks for one, you can skip it! Now, let’s dive into your performance. For this read, I want you to really focus on projection. While you have a lovely voice, think about the setting: a gym full of people. At your current projection level, it would be hard for everyone to hear you clearly. To fix this, take a deep breath and engage your diaphragm. Strong breath support is the foundation of effective projection, allowing your voice to carry across a large space without strain.

Setting believability is crucial. Think of it this way: if you were on a battlefield and trying to call out to a comrade across the field, your voice would need a certain level of volume and intensity to make the scene feel real. Without that projection, the immersion for the listener can break. By imagining yourself fully in the scene and visualizing the space, you can adjust your energy and tone to match the environment, making your performance more engaging and convincing.

To help build your breath support and projection, I encourage you to keep practicing your doggy pants exercise. This is an excellent way to strengthen your diaphragm and develop better control over your breathing. The goal is to take your time, focus on breathing deeply, and articulate each word clearly. As you practice, try to project your voice so it fills the imagined gym or battlefield setting. The more you practice combining breath control with articulation, the more natural it will feel to project while maintaining clarity.

You’re making great progress, so keep refining these aspects. With stronger projection and breath control, your performances will feel even more dynamic and immersive. Keep up the good work—you’re on the right track!
