Session 1
Jamie for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
(I'm learning too, so take with a grain of salt) Something I was told before was to leave some dead-air after a mistake before repeating the botched line so that it is easier to edit out and replace with the correct line. Overall good job : )
Thanks so much! I did a bit better the first take, but it cut off toward the end. Still, the “dead air” advice is appreciated! You’re right about it making editing easier. (I’m used to being able to pause my recordings, catch my bearings, and resume, but this system wasn’t letting me do that :I)
I have to say coming in and using a completely new program to record and still delivering something as good as this is very impressive! I think you nailed the homework on the head. Your voice was consistent through out the reading. You stayed at a very even pace through out and it was very enjoyable to listen to. Great work!
Thank you so much. Would it be more impressive if I said I did this with an unfamiliar program while being bent at the middle under a short table with a quilt on top of it? My little ‘studio’ proved faulty, as well, so I did that instead 😅 (never again. I'm working on something new)
Mad props!
Remember for real auditions, you don’t have to slate or explain yourself before them. Just dive right into the audition lines! But ignoring all of that, when you do make mistakes take a moment to recoup and restart from the beginning of the sentence again. Most directors will allow you a few seconds to get yourself back into character. When you rush into it without taking those moments, you can start to lose a bit of the character quality and sometimes can get frustrated. Remember to take a big breath again when you make a mistake using your diaphragm so that you have enough breath support to get through. Also project your voice to fit the gym with no mic scene, which is where the breathing comes into play. Work on your exercises and keep up the great work!
