The narrator is arguably the most important role in this project. The narrator will set the tone and mood, while also acting as the listeners' eyes. They will describe the scene, inner emotions, and physical queues. The current idea is to have a warm and soft voice that emulates someone telling a child a dark bedtime story with a powerful moral. Please feel free to use your own interpreted style and tone.

I'm still open to your unique interpretation, but this is and example of the engaging warmth I'm seeking by default. https://youtu.be/lhx1Cv3wfCY?si=-jzS7VhuiAVZwFDw&t=1207

Tips for narrator based on current auditions: Sloooooow down. Close your eyes, take a breath, and slow it down. There's no time slot here. Pauses and pacing will go a LONG way.

  • Charlie peered through the small gap in the curtains. It was just past noon, but the sun was nowhere to be found. She felt the heavy pit of anxious fear creeping from her belly up to her throat. She remembered her mother and father, always by her side. They were here now, and for the time, she felt safe once more.

  • It was dark and cold, but the girl's light remained, deep inside, warming her through this endless night.

  • She tried to brave through her waking nightmares. Oh, she tried and tried, squeezing her eyes tight and gritting her teeth. A brave girl indeed. The bravest she could be.

Hi Evan, thank you so much for auditioning! I think your pacing and tone were excellent! Very pleasant to listen to! Only thing of note is that your audio quality sounds a bit sub-par. It's not awful. You don't sound like you're recording with a laptop mic in a public bathroom or anything lol, but it's a noticeable difference from some of my favorite auditions I've received here. I mention this because this casting has already began to teach me new skills and perspectives. One perspective is that quality needs to match or it stands out like a sore thumb. What I mean is, on its own here, your audition sounds nice. The quality is noticeable but not unusable. However, taking into account that the other future cast members would have different sounding audio quality, the finished episode wouldn't sound consistent. I don't know how far along you are in your VA journey. If you're new, I'm not saying run out and drop a bunch of money on gear and equipment lol. Don't do that! I think focusing on your acting is smart, and in that regard, this was a great audition. It might be room acoustics honestly now that I'm listening again. Even putting up a blanket behind you can go a long way. Thanks so much for your audition!

Thank you for the feedback I really appreciate! And I am currently using a USB mic so it's not the best but I do plan on updating it relatively soon.
