Derek wishes he had more time for his child, but he has to work so much to pay the bills. He's a lot more laid-back than Anna is, but he loves Charlie just as much. Derek loves to be the teacher and lesson-giver. He takes pride in getting to raise an actual human, his own little human, into a kind and compassionate strong individual, something he wishes the world had more of.

  • What's wrong, string bean? You seem a little off today. You know you can always talk to me, right?

  • That's part of life. What's important is that we LEARN from stuff like this. When you choose to reflect and learn, you grow. Not just big and strong, but up here (pointing to his head). That way, the next time something scary or painful happens, it doesn't hurt so bad.

  • (Faded, a shell of his old self, meaningless words, cold) Because you're strong, string bean. Stronger than me or mommy ever could have dreamed of being.

Hi Bryce! Thanks for auditioning. I'll leave the feedback here on this one, but I loved everything you've submitted. Honestly, you make me want to work with you! Definitely gonna shortlist. Your emotion is spot on, your projection is great, audio quality is excellent, honestly just loved listening to these. Only thing I can say (please take it all with a grain of salt as this is just my perspective, and I'm small-time) is there's a lot of harsh exhales at the ends of many of your words. I'm not about to say, "work on your breath control," because I'm actually looking in to private coaching myself to improve my techniques and learn better ones. Trying to stay in my lane, you know? lol. It just stood out since I'm the one that has to edit this audio. I've notice from doing audiobooks, sometimes if you have a really harsh exhale at the end of a word from pushing out too much air, it blends with the word, and when you try to edit the breath out, it feels like a sharp and unnatural cutoff. I'm also not an expert editor by any means, so that could be a factor here. This project is going to be practice for that. The harsh breaths are all I got for you. Truly loved your auditions!

Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback! Listening back, I didn’t even notice that while getting the right takes put together. It’s like of those things where now I can’t unhear it, but it’s a good thing! Always looking to improve and grow at my craft 🫡 Again, thank you so much for the kind words and the opportunity to audition! ✨
