Hi Jo! Thanks for auditioning! That's great that you're in VA101 right now. I went down that road about 4 years ago now, and it was an amazing start. I hope you find value in it. I think you have some great foundations! You sound ahead if that makes sense. I think your voice just sounds absolutely lovely! Got a few comments that I hope will only help :) For this specific role, this is of course a mother talking to her 9 year old child. I feel like you're over-articulating here. The warmth is there! The gentle feeling is there! But it feels too professional. Don't be afraid to let go and speak the way you'd speak to a niece, or your best friend's kid, or YOUR kid even if you have one. On that note, the style you DID have here was quite close to what I'm looking for for the narration role. I mean slow that down, darken it a bit, and boom! Top running for potential narrator right there! Last two things are technical issues. I'm hearing a lot of mouth clicks, and a lot of room noise. Sometimes you just can't help room noise, especially when you're newer. I'm struggling with my laptop fan as a matter of fact. I don't think it's so bad that I wouldn't be able to take care of it in editing, but just something to be aware of. For mouth clicks, I've got some (hopefully) helpful tips under Sxfty's audition for Other Roles if you'd like to look into addressing that. Genuinely Jo, you're going places! Thank you so much for auditioning.

Thank you so much for all your advice! I would love to audition for the Narrator so expect another submission from me :) I totally understand on what you meant with my over-articulation. I think I just wanted the words to come out as clear as possible without thinking too much on the acting part. As for the room noise, I normally do a bit of noise reduction but I sent the file raw with no editing at all. But thank you so much for the advice on the mouth clicks! That's something I notice a lot. I do take sips of water here and there but I think I subconsciously breathe through my mouth which is something I definitely need to work on. Thank you again so much on all the advice and the opportunity to audition. It was all very helpful!
