Make sure you're projecting your voice strongly enough to be heard clearly across a large gymnasium without needing a microphone. To achieve this, focus on taking deep breaths using your diaphragm to ensure you have ample air to support your projection. This will help you push your voice out with power and clarity. Slowing down slightly will also aid in articulating each word more clearly, preventing them from blending together and becoming mumbled. Think of it as giving each word the space it needs to be fully understood. By taking a bit more time with your pacing, you can add more variety and emphasis to your performance. Variety is crucial in voice acting as it adds a unique feel to your read, making it more engaging.
Since you mentioned that you're just getting into voice acting, you're at a great stage to focus on these foundational skills. Keep striving forward and practicing these techniques to enhance your overall delivery. Remember, good projection isn’t just about volume—it's also about clarity and control. With these adjustments, you'll find that your performance stands out even more. Nice job so far—just a few tweaks, and you'll be delivering strong, impactful reads with ease!
Thank you very much for the feedback. I have a daily warmup that entails deep humming, yawning for 10 times, lip and tongue trills for 20 secs, rapid dog breaths 200 times, reactive breathing, face stretching and tongue twisters. My concerns are that my breaths aren't long enough, for example, for both trill types I can only get to 10-15 secs, not the 20 secs. Additionally given my small frame, I can't help think that I have small lungs and with me being older my lung capacity is less lol. I know that with practice all of these parameters will improve, but I am not sure by how much? Thus this translates for my concern for projection. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!
