Session 1
Brad Rushing for Role
Full details of homework is on Closing Credits
Great work. Sound quality and great is good too!
Thank you for listening and the feedback.
No problem Brad! Nice to meet you through class
Likewise. I am new to Casting Call, etc. How do I find other classmates' submissions to offer input as you have for me? Thank you again.
No problem Brad! You can click on the tab that says 'Toggle (Number) Submissions' and use the comments icon to share feedback.
Your pronunciation is spot-on, but let's work on boosting your projection for a more dynamic delivery. Imagine our conversation as if we were chatting casually over coffee, where we naturally vary our pace, volume, and tone to keep things interesting. Injecting some of that conversational flair into your read will give it a more engaging and authentic feel. Experiment with changes in volume, tempo, and even throw in a pause or two for effect—those little "uhm" or "mmm" moments can add a nice touch of spontaneity.
Your second take definitely brought more personality to the table, but we lost a bit of that projection from the first take. Ideally, we want to find a balance between the two. Let's also address those awkward pauses from the second take by applying what you've learned about using breath marks to guide your pacing.
Lastly, let's crank up the enthusiasm! While your delivery is friendly and approachable, infusing it with more passion and excitement will really take it to the next level. Think about how you'd express genuine excitement when talking about something you love—that energy and enthusiasm will shine through in your performance.
Thank you for these helpful insights. Is it possible for me to review the video of the prior classes. I attended both Thursday and Saturday this week. But I have been sick and my concentration is not the best. For instance I remember the discussion of the breath marks but do not recall the details. Also ... today I booked my first role. A backup and unpaid. LOL! But one thing more than nothing. Also a random person who listened to my other submissions has asked me to read for their project. That is very nice.
