Cameron's take on the iconic character is less humorous or sarcastic. He seems to be a troubled young man struggling to find a place socially. When he gets his powers, it terrifies him at first but he slowly abuses his powers and acts upon his rebellious feelings, acting as a source of greed and vengeance. Peter does help people sometimes, but is characterized by essentially being an edgy, serious teenager who wants the girl, and defies evil. He's selfish but not insane. Try to go for something that feels more serious. Peter feels alone and often acts out on his rage by abusing his powers. I think Cameron's take was more isolated but a little more realistic. Peter's voice is described as a bit higher, while he noticeably deepens the voice as Spider-Man to disguise it. This Spider-Man should sound serious, calm, smart and angry when he needs to be. (We know DiCaprio was attached at some point, I've seen some people think Eddie Furlong, make it your own but you can keep those casting suggestions in mind too. It does not need to be an impression.)
