The Purgatorians | Original and Ambitious 5 season audio drama
Douglas Grosser for Extras
I am now asking all extras to audition so I can hear their sound quality but also to join the official Discord where you shall be added to the extras section.
The extras can be any age from sixteen to ninety. What I would like to do when extras are needed is to send you a part of the script that needs the extras and you devise some chatter before the start, during and/or after the piece. It could be wondering why the people were called to the square or panic because the emergency bells are ringing. Possibly all the extras could use Discord and record their lines that way to make a conversation feel natural.
Extras are paid upon the conversations I can use, not the voice lines of one extra themselves. Once you send me the lines, I will listen through it and if I think it is useful for the scenes I shall use it. I may ask you to rerecord some parts with more guidance or, if I can't currently use it in a current scene, it could be used in a future scene.
Please let me know whether you would like to be an ongoing extra or just a one off to avoid messaging you needlessly and irritating you.

(concerned) What’s happening? Is he alright?
(concerned, unsure) I don’t know? Should we do something?
(Panicking)He is turning to sand. Everyone get out now.(There are screams and shouts of fear from the citizens panicking, having no idea of what is happening)
Line 1, 2 and 3 all voices are good for this in both takes. Line 3 needs more fear as someone has just crumbled into sand before you eyes.
Thanks for all of the feedback for all of the auditions! There’s usually none given so this is helpful. I’ll rerecord my takes and use your notes and resubmit.
Quite a few tell me that and it shocks me. People who audition give their time to put them together and it's only fair feedback is given. It helps the person auditioning create the best representation of the character they can, it helps me finding the right character and it also shows who can, or is willing to, follow direction. It's a win\win for both sides.
Those that do not resubmit auditions based on feedback, i would consider a nightmare to work with. Only giving me one take when it comes to lines and such.
I can't imagine trying to direct someone who can't take feedback. It could only end up being a nightmare for trying to complete a project. I definitely appreciate it as sometimes there's a different take that a director is going for than I initially assume, so it helps clarify what is needed. I uploaded all the retakes at this point, so thank you again for actually taking the time to give some feedback. It really did help clarify the characters/scenes, and let me know if there are any additional changes you'd like to hear!
