Unpaid
Role assigned to: Seth Sturgill @twodollarhero

The Poem is written in first person, so the narrator is also the main and sole character.

During the duration of the poem the painter's voice will become more unhinged and frantic. Because of this, the ability to act convincingly is important.

*Feel free to apply with only an acting reel if you prefer, although I may request you read them later if you're being seriously considered

Voice description:
  • male adult
  • True art takes talent, technique and time. True art takes effort, true art is refined. This stain on the wall was not of the sort. I clench my blade tight, it’s time to abort.

  • The canvas splits, out pours gore. Staining the walls, coating the floor. The crowd now panicked, they escape out the door. My assault continues, I’m destroying it more. I feel like a hero, fighting a war. Saving the traditions of before from those I detest and deplore, who’ll treat a museum like a store, and corrupt the meaning of talent just to sell some décor. It’s a charade I can no longer ignore.

  • It know it sounds absurd, but I assure you it’s true At my feet, my first target, raw organs in view Clearly lifeless, I’ve slain it, I’ve cut it apart But somehow, in the mess, an insolent… still-beating… heart
