Grace
Rachel Peacock for IRIS (Female, major role)
Iris is one of the major roles of this film.
Iris wears darker clothes, one would gleam her to be 'goth'. Suitably she has a calm tone to almost everything she says. However her outward appearance may mislead some as to who she really is; as at her core she is a kind, approachable and caring person
When portraying Iris, try to aim for an 'icy' tone to her voice. This can dampen emotional range slightly, but only slightly

(Iris insinuates to a friend whom plans to fish in order to eat. She cautiously reminds her friend..) "You know if you catch a fish you’ll have to.." (She makes a crack sound and imitated hitting a fish on the head with her hands)
(You're trying to help your friend with some advice. She needs to find a location within a large city, but mentions she 'already tried asking for direction.' In an attempt to push her to face her social anxieties, you say) There’s a few hundred thousand if not million people that live in this city, don’t say ‘no luck’ like you’ve asked them all
(In a heavy moment, you're reminding your friend something she has known but mentally ran from for years. Heartbroken, trying to appeal to her sensibilities, you say) But you’ve known that this entire time..
Hey! I appreciate the message, just wondering if you'd be willing to read the lines so i can get a feel for your portrayal of Iris is all? Also, if the microphone your using is the only one available or could be tweaked? All the best!
Hey there! Sorry I didn't see any lines when applying from my phone and it's been giving me some issues on the site or I would have read them the first time, my apologies. Additionally, I see now Iris is a cis -woman, which I do not mind playing, but I do want to mention that I am a trans woman if that matters to you at all for casting purposes. I read the lines based on the situations in the caption and re-submitted. If you'd like for me to tweak anything else based on the lines such as inflection or anything else I'm happy to work with you!I use a blue yeti mic with a myriad of tone settings and gain etc we can tweak to your specifications as well. If it's easier to chat LIVE for this, you can always reach me on Discord under the name "Kazlux". Thank you for your consideration and have a wonderful day :]
Nah that doesn't matter at all, i actually just deleted that detail for Iris to open up the possibilities a bit further (That and her being trans would actually fit the story quite well, so i'm leaning into that direction in my final draft anyway)I think your voice is great! It's hard to say it but the mic quality is still just a little sub optimal which is the worst when it comes to making these decisions, because i definitely see potential. Maybe it's the space, or the gain being to high on the yeti? Or perhaps the microphone is to far?If you're willing to attempt another take, that would be neat! If so, Iris' voice has an 'icy' tone to it, however not to the point where she is mute of any emotion Also, i know we're working a lot in trying to make this work and with that in mind i can't necessarily guarantee the role upon re submission, however i would love to see if there's a possibility to further improve!
Heya! I resubmitted another sample for you to give a listen to so please let me know if it is more in the direction you are looking for in both tone and quality. I've moved the mic closer and messed with the gain a bit, though there are a TON of additional options available for us in the blueyeti/logitech software we can fiddle with for ranges or filters etc on fine tuning it to your exact need. As far as my lines delivery this go, I gave an attempt to lean more into a subdued icy feel, not so much that Iris would be interpreted as uncaring, but one where I feel like unless you got to know her she may seem like a less warm friend being the less outwardly bubbly type.As always, thank you for your time and consideration- I'm happy to tweak anything you may like and discuss further if you decide I am right for the vision you are going for!Respectfully, Rachel
The difference is impeccable! The portrayal is amazing and the mic quality is night and day, the mic being my main concern before. So excited to see this new take it was great!
