Utsuro (鬱褸 Utsuro) is a major antagonist in Jujutsu Kaisen: Purple and one of two primary antagonists of the Comorbid Conditions Arc, alongside Shousa. He is a special-grade cursed spirit embodying society's collective depression who agrees to assist Yukou Tsugomorii with the elimination of all Jujutsu Sorcerers.
Utsuro is a despondent, morose cursed spirit who wishes to free humanity from suffering by killing all humans. He is usually level-headed and avoids expressing intense emotions, but can lose his temper when his ideology is criticised. Even so, Utsuro can be rather merciful and, as long as they do not interfere with his actions, aims to kill humans in a painless manner.

(Utsuro exorcises a first-grade cursed spirit and steps into the moonlight. Sullen, gloomy tone.) “Ugh. I can’t stand cursed spirits. They’re depressing creatures…” (More sinister tone.) “...Although humans are far worse.” (Weary, dispirited yet still sinister tone.) “I’ll do you a favour… by hanging you both.”
(Losing his temper at Kana. Belligerent, exasperated tone.) “How can you say that when you humans are the ones who inflict suffering upon your own kind?! Bullying, discrimination, murder… every problem faced by humanity is caused by other people! You’ll continue to destroy lives as long as you’re alive!" (Utsuro lowers his tone.) "The only solution to mankind’s misery… is to kill you all.”
(Utsuro is questioning his existence after getting hit by a black flash. Inner monologue. Incredulous, dismayed tone.) "Why are you humans… so desperately clinging to life? Why do you persevere despite your daily suffering? Why won’t you just curl up and die?"
