Undyne's role as Captain of the Royal Guard is an important part of her very personality.  She's super strong (which she can suplex a boulder just because she can), deeply passionate about her friends, and determined to fight for them no matter what.  She often gets too invested in activities because of her determination, especially when her and Papyrus cook together.
