Despite being confirmed as a child, Wizard Cookie has been known to pretend being an adult in past Cookie Run titles. He has attempted to appear older by claiming his scarf is a beard, denying being young when others question his age, and so on. It can be assumed that Wizard Cookie would do this to maintain an air of wisdom and maturity similar to that of an archetypal elderly wizard.
