Despite his generally good intentions, Arvis was ruthless and ambitious, seeing his manipulation and ultimately lethal treachery toward his enemies and "allies" as necessary sacrifices to bring his dreams of a better future to fruition. Although he maintained a facade of formal politeness, he tended toward having little respect for others until said respect was earned, and was initially dismissive of Sigurd's abilities as a warrior for this reason.
As a result of his upbringing amidst his father's constant philandering, Arvis developed a deep-seated misogyny and discomfort around women, having difficulty abiding their presence or trusting them.
