In my persistent perfectionism, I've come to the conclusion that I could have done the first line with a bit more upbeat energy than I ended up giving it. Though the given delivery would work better for one of the later repetitions of the line, I feel I could have demonstrated more emotional variance here. I may record another take, if that would be helpful in rendering a final casting decision.

    The first time should be a little more upbeat, yes, and the second time he says the line should be a little more melancholy. If you feel that you could do a better performance, feel free to try again. :)

The protagonist. You should be able to sound quite jovial when speaking lines like the first one, but you must be able to change your tone for lines like the second one.
