Minor role (7 lines). Driver of a steam locomotive drawing one of the first passenger trains. Theatrical, as much a sales rep as a techie—at this point, the locomotive is more a demonstration of a new technology than a useful piece of transportation. Any gender.
Ladies and gentlemen, brace yourselves. This train is about to reach dangerous, record speeds of up to twelve miles per hour! I must remind you that science is divided over whether such unimaginable velocities will cause fatal brain damage.
