Supporting role (14 lines). A not-too-bright London police officer who is Sherlock's main contact in the official police. Accosts Stephen King and Edgar Allan Poe in a highwheel bicycle chase, then gets drawn into the murder mystery. Working class, but with aspirational pomposity.

Lestrade is male in canon, but as this episode's guest cast is skewing heavily male, we're gender-flipping this character for the sake of lessening imbalance—so women and people of marginalised genders only, thanks. (In real life there were no known non-male Inspectors in the Victorian-era London police, but there were some women in the lower ranks; in any case, this is not a hyper-realistic show.)
