If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were the VA for Ash. You knocked it out of the park.
Thank you so much!! Ash's voice is an inspiration for a lot of my younger male voices, so it means a lot to have that inspiration shine through :)!! I'm glad you liked it !!
BRUH That's mental. How do you even manage to get that close to Ash?
Real talk, though. You. Have. THE PERFECT voice for this role. However, I think that you are trying too hard to keep the Ash voice, and you just need to collaborate with yourself here. IN OTHER WORDS, I think that you would be able to nail this out of the park if you didn't try to strain your voice to make it fit into a mold, and this is most evident in your takes for the crying lines. It really just sounds like someone is throwing a bit of a fit (which reminds me of how Ash would cry in the anime), and I get that this sounds good, but not for this context. IF YOU ARE CHOSEN (which I hella think you should be), then you just need to remember that those crying lines are the end of the rope-- the breakdown. If you want to make it sound like they are bawling their eyes out, strained voice and all, then I think it would benefit you best to just go all the way, then, and really try to stutter, snivel, have some high pitched huffs-- do whatever you want, just try your best to not stick to the Ash voice. It's a good voice, I'll give Taylor that, but it is not good for this context.
Thank you so much for the feedback!! Upon relistening to my audition, I totally hear what you mean! I think I was a little anxious about keeping the 'boyish' tone, and as a result I definitely shied away from adding more emotional elements you'd mentioned when they really ought to have been there !! I'll keep that in mind when recording for younger male characters in the future, thank you so much for bringing it to my attention, I can't wait to really push myself in performances of this nature >:)
