Nightmare at Akuma's.
Matteo Carbini for Mr. Akuma
In the early 20th century, a wealthy Japanese businessman named Akuma decided to build an amusement park in the heart of Tokyo. Akuma was obsessed with the idea of creating lifelike animatronic creatures, modeled after the yokai and other creatures of Japanese folklore.
To achieve his vision, Akuma hired a team of brilliant engineers and animatronic designers, who worked tirelessly to create the most realistic animatronics the world had ever seen. The park opened to great fanfare, and visitors were amazed by the lifelike creatures that roamed the park.
But over time, strange things began to happen at Akuma's. Visitors reported seeing the animatronics move on their own, and some even claimed that the creatures had attacked them. Akuma denied these rumors and blamed the incidents on overactive imaginations.
But the truth was far more sinister. Akuma had become obsessed with the idea of infusing his animatronics with real yokai spirits, believing that this would make them even more lifelike. He had made a pact with a powerful yokai spirit, promising to sacrifice human souls in exchange for the ability to bring his animatronics to
life.
