Vince for Doctor Yi Suchong (Major Role)
Dr. Yi Suchong M.D. (이수종, 易蘇崇) was a leading medical researcher in Rapture studying ADAM and its uses to create Plasmids and alter brain function, as well as creating the Little Sisters and Big Daddies. Usually referring to himself in the third person, Suchong was an egomaniacal opportunist, using even tragic events such as war to his own benefit. He conformed perfectly to Rapture's society and worked simply for the highest bidder. The life of Dr. Yi Suchong began as the son of a lowly house servant in rural Korea. But, when World War II occurred, he seized opportunity from the serious upheaval all across Asia. During World War II, Suchong was in Korea at the time of the Japanese occupation, and was accused of selling opium to the Japanese to fund his experiments. Most of Suchong's years before Rapture are clouded, but he mentions in one of his Audio Diaries that "Japanese kill every man in my city." Suchong was spared during the slaughter because he supplied the Japanese troops with opium. A Chinese newspaper reported Suchong's disappearance in December 1946 as he fled to avoid being hunted down by the Chinese Government for collaboration with the enemy. In Rapture, Suchong set up an independent research firm, Suchong Institute and Laboratories, which contracted out to Ryan Industries and Sinclair Solutions. In 1951, Suchong grew dissatisfied with the inconsistent funding provided by Andrew Ryan and began covertly working for Fontaine Futuristics. (Taking notes and then having an epiphany) Clinical Trial Lot 23 Dr. Suchong/Client Fontaine Futuristics. Work on telekinesis plasmid proceeding well. Lifting objects at distance present no problem. Moving objects through space, no problem. Cannot stop speeding bullet, but can catch and throw fast moving object. Problem not with plasmid. Problem with reaction time. ...Suchong just get new idea for plasmid.
(Happy to take advantage of the situation but pondering next step) War a terrible thing. Japanese kill every man in my city, except for Suchong. Suchong have opium. Very good opium. This war, terrible thing, too, but not for Suchong. Everyone scared now. Everyone need ADAM. More than Little Sisters can make. Good news is war makes lots of corpses. Suchong knows way to recycle ADAM from corpse. But can't send Little Sister out to street unprotected. Suchong must think on this.
(Trying to take notes and hatching a plan but the Little Sisters keep bugging you) Suchong: Clinical Trial Protector System Plasmid Lot 255. Dr. Suchong/client Ryan Industries. Very frustrating day. I can't seem to get the damn Big Daddies to imprint on the little brats. The protection bond is just not forming... (Little Sister: Papa Suchong!) Suchong: Get, get away... maybe if I modify the genetic sequence to... (Little Sister: Papa Suchong!) Suchong: Shush, shoo... sequence to allow for... (Little Sister: Papa Suchong! Papa Suchong! Papa Suchong!) (Angry) Suchong: Get away, you filthy little shit! (smacks Little Sister then the Little Sister starts to cry. You just noticed the Big Daddy standing behind you.) ...What? (The Bouncer roars and you are terrified.) What are you doing? Get back... get back!!! Argh! (Sound of drill whirring.)
It sounded a little too Eastern European and you kept pronouncing your own character’s name in different ways. It is pronounced Sue-Chong. The voice was fine, just not for this character.
