There was nothing in the world more irritating than someone smoking 2 feet from a public entrance. Really, what an entitled asshole. I entered the supermarket holding my breath. It felt like an eternity, and each step felt slower than the last. I grabbed a shopping cart, biting my nails and squinting at an elderly man. The man wasn’t particularly interesting; he was your average old man.

“Thank you for your service.” I pointed to his Vietnam Veteran hat. The man looked up.

“Nope, I’m good.” I walked and took a deep breath. I should’ve slapped that phone out of her hand. I searched aisle after aisle, but I couldn’t locate it. “Well, I got everything.”
