Man on the Internet: Pokémon Scarlet Dub
OfficialJT for Arven
Arven is an upperclassman at the academy. He's good at cooking and is researching healthy recipes that can help Pokémon feel better. He will be asking you to help him out, since he isn't good at Pokémon battles. Arven puts up a bit of a front when the player first meets him. He comes off a bit frustrated and rude at first, but as the game goes on we begin to understand where his frustration comes from. Arven is a young man with a lot of love in his heart, and we discover while helping him that his dog and best friend, Mabosstiff, is dying. As we help him try to save Mabosstiff we learn that he has been estranged from his mom while she works to research the Great Crater of Paldea, and Mabosstiff is basically all he has.
Voice Type: Somewhat frustrated, but determined to save his friend. Willing to trust Juliana to help him find a cure. Lovingly emotional toward his dog.
[to the player] I don't remember ever seeing you around. But given the uniform...you go to the academy too, do you? Koraidon isn't the sort of Pokémon that any old trainer can hope to command. It's special.
You… you heard that, right, Juliana? Mabosstiff just woofed! Right?! Oh, Mabosstiff! Who’s my best bud, huh? Who’s the best of boys? You are, yes, you are! *sniff* It’s… it’s been so long since I heard that woof!
[to his dog, Mabosstiff] Come on, bud. Eat up. It's gonna make you all better, I promise. Juliana and I—we really did our best to get this for you. We're gonna play with your favorite ball as much as you want... Y'know? Just like we used to. Please...get better... That's all I want, really… Mabosstiff... You did your best, bud…
Your voice fits Arven's character design really well. I would suggest trying to be a little more in the moment with the emotionality of lines 2 and 3. For line 2, Arven is happy and excited to hear his dog and best friend getting better, almost jumping for joy. It would be good to hear that kind of energy in your takes. For line 3, this is one of the most important emotional scenes for Arven. He is having to come to terms with his dog dying. The audience should be in tears by the end of this line. Thank you so so much for the feedback it’s greatly appreciated! I actually had some takes where the energy definitely was there but ig because I listened over and over I got too in my head about them.
