This is my first time ever really trying a French accent
That is actually not bad at all, but we're looking more for a Parisian accent while yours is closer to Bourgonge... If you'd like to try another take, feel free, but we certainly will have roles for such an accent in later seasons.
What are the quirks of a Parisian accent? Google didnt yield much.
the Parisian accent “swallows” the letter E, almost in the same way the G can be swallow in English. As in : Je ne vais pas au salon de coiffure > Je n'vais pas au salon d'coiffur’. Also, there is a very tiny distinction between the sounds “un”/“en”/“an”, which mostly sound like a mix of “AN” and “ON” as pronounced in English. This is very specific to the Parisian accent, I wouldn’t know how to transcribe it :/ The sounds “é” and “è” are mixed up. As in : Jamais il ne partirait sans prendre son livre de chevet et son oreiller > Jam[è] il ne partir[è] sans prendre son livre de chev[è] [è] son or[èyè]. Actually, the more you travel South, the less you’ll hear the sound [è], and in the opposite direction, the more you travel North, the less you’ll hear the sound “é”. The accent-free version of this sentence is : Jam[è] il ne partir[è] sans prendre son livre de chev[é] [é] son or[èyé]. Also less guttural, slightly more melodic if you can, he is the son of a lawyer after all... ^.^
