He is the main antagonist and adoptive father of Atiriya Liarel, Lucien is a complicated character.
As an extremely powerful mage, his body stores an unhealthy amount of magic, so much so that his body is quickly deteriorating. In an effort to stay alive, he's experimenting with using the souls of others and heavily illegal forms of magic to find a way to both keep his power and live.
In order to reach this end, he kills Atiriya's family but takes her in when he realizes her potential. From childhood, he uses her and trains her as a killer, someone to collect souls for him, making false promises to save her brother.
In the end, he does learn to care about her as his daughter but refuses to admit that to himself. Lucien knows that she just wants her family back, and he empathizes with her and takes care of her, considering that he's already lost his due to accidentally killing them.
Still, he refuses to allow that to stop him.
Eventually, he does change, deciding to help her when she's put into the same situation he was in, but only after it was too late for him anyway.
His voice is calm and he always sounds quite sure of himself, although, he does get rather agitated at times. It's not particularly high, but it certainly isn't low either.
