Ch'en's basically a robot in this. She has a severely stunted personality and has trouble understanding the most basic of metaphors or sarcasm. she points out a lot of the show's absurdities and inconsistencies. She also has a crush on Hoshi but it's very much a "does not compute" disaster

(deadpan) well if I am to be honest, the organization in this ship is atrocious, the operators clinically insane and the decor is an affront to my vision... (a slight bit of emotion breaks through)...I like it...
