Lindie is pronounced "Lin-dee." Mrs. Lindie is in her late 40s or early 50s. She sounds like a sweet old lady on the surface but harbors a great deal of anger and resentment towards the world - especially children.
*Ms. Lindie hums "Ring Around the Rosie" as she stirs a pot of boiling sugar water with a wooden spoon.*
*Ms. Lindie puts a hand over her mouth, trying to stifle her laughter. Unable to contain herself any longer, she then cackles maniacally.*
[MS. LINDIE AS THE NARRATOR.]
"I come from a long line of candy makers. My father, my father's father, and his father, and so on, and so forth, all made sweets. My family used to own a candy shop on Main Street called Lindie's. Lindie's had been open for over 50 years. Unfortunately, due to a series of unforseen circumstances, the business went bankrupt and Lindie's is no more. These things happen, you see. I'm fine with it. I really am."
[Stage direction: Ms. Lindie hears the doorbell ring. She opens the front door and sees 6 children standing on her porch, wearing Halloween costumes.]
"Hello, hello, hello! What do we have here? A vampire, a witch, and a mummy. And what are you supposed to be, hun?"
