In The Name of Evil
nathan t esser for Father Kain Akkerman
Age: Late sixties
Voice: Worn, medium-low to low, somewhat gravelly
Father Akkerman is a priest, but he never wanted to be. He doesn't believe in God, really. He was transferred out of New York to exorcise a demon from Els Giese because he was the only priest nearby the town that Els lives in to have ever successfully performed an exorcism. Despite his lack of faith, as the story progressess, he begins to have a change of heart.
(praying) Do not keep in mind, O Lord, our offenses or those of our parents, nor take vengeance on our sins. Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation...
(demanding) Silence, demon! Christ commands you—you follow God’s orders!
(in pain/begging/sobbing) Don't hurt Els. Please, don't hurt Els.
[*"Els" is pronounced like "Alice" without the "i"]
