YOUR ROLE IS NABIL

Military base (Jamal, Nabil)

JAMAL (calling loudly): “NABIL?” 

NABIL: “Jamal?”

JAMAL (quietly): “Nabil..” 

NABIL: “I am so sorry for your sister but Jamal… the thing is, everyone in this country has problems, everyone wants our help. But we don’t have resources to help everyone.“

JAMAL (hopeless): …sigh… 

NABIL: “So we have this strict rule – we help only our members, our fighters. For you, the only way how to help your sister is to join us.“

NABIL (empathetic): …sigh… 

NABIL: “We are fighting for a better world, to ensure than no one suffers like your family.” 

NABIL: “We will learn you anything, we have younger soldiers than you-“

JAMAL (determined): “I will do anything, just help her.“ 

Desert (Jamal, Nabil)

NABIL: “Goddamn… the road is blocked. It wasn’t there a few days ago.”

NABIL (angry): “Our enemies… they had to detonate the mountain. They attack on our infrastructure, so they could cut us out of food and help. This is exactly why we need to fight them!” 

JAMAL (hopeless): “So… what will we do now?“ 

NABIL: “The hospital is just a few kilometres from us but… We cannot go further, there is no other way. I am sorry Jamal.“

JAMAL (sad): “No……….” 

JAMAL (hopeful): “and what about that road?” 

NABIL: “That’s… not our territory. It’s controlled by… extremist, organization doing evil, twisted things. It’s out of question we go there.“

JAMAL: “So I’ll walk.“

NABIL: “Jamal…“ 

JAMAL (angry, determined): “You promised you would help!... we are so close. I am not turning back now!“ 

NABIL: …sigh… “Your sister has no chance now. In this heat, you cannot make it.“

JAMAL: “I don’t care.“ 

NABIL: “Wait, just… take this. Do you know how to use a gun?“ 

JAMAL: “Is there anybody in this country who doesn’t?“
