This version of The Master acts as more a war veteran, a prisoner in the most secure prison in the universe, a mad man who's seen the universe millions of times. A merciless, unhinged cold-blooded killer who terrifies everyone, even The Doctor. The Master knows secrets, he's seen ahead, he's seen The Doctor's future, and will appear throughout the stories hinting and antagonizing The Doctor taking any opportunity he gets to do so. He is a dark, deranged, cold, comedic, charismatic, manipulative, experienced vengeful trickster.
