Lupin the Third: Goemon's Spray of Blood Abridged

Goemon is the big stoic samurai of the group, he's normally the straight man to the lupin gang's antics, but given that the movie is all about him having him just be the normal boring straight one doesn't fit. So instead we took the pride he has in his skills and the small smugness streak he has in the series and turned it up to 11. This is a man who knows he's the best swordsman in the world and will not hesitate to tell you about all the planes he's cut in half. However, in this movie he suffers a devastating loss at the hands of the antagonist Hawk which sends him into a massive depressive spiral, so you'll need to be able to capture that pure anguish he feels. Finally, through intense training he achieves a zen like nirvana that he uses to beat Hawk. In this bit his smugness is still a part of him, but he needs to have a more focused and calm determination. He knows he's better but he realizes that he can't let his pride cloud his vision in battle anymore. I've chosen three lines that come from each of these moments so you can demonstrate how you'll handle each of these emotional points.
The fact that you mistook readied meditation for a peaceful slumber is evidence enough of our difference in skill more than what I just did. But I doubt you’ll be cutting a bullet in half any time soon either.
*Goemon just cut a bullet in half in mid air to save the mob boss he's working for. He then uses this as a way to rub his skill in the face of one the mob boss's other bodyguards who'd been insulting him earlier in the scene. This should be dripping withh smug asshole energy*I lost..it still feels like a dream, like this can’t be real. But I, Goemon, cutter of planes was bested. He caught my sword with his hand, then just took me down in one hit. This can't be happening. I need to beat him I need to get stronger. I must train, harder than ever before…
*this is Goemon's internal monologue after he gets beat by Hawk. Take it slow and really revel n that existential despair realizing that the one skill you thought you were good at you actually suck at*First time you've felt the fear of death then? An opponent who learns to fear, learns to be stronger, and cutting you down now denies a rematch in our future.
*there's still that element of smugness but you need to be able to seem a lot calmer, like your at peace with everything. This is right after he beats Hawk in a fight*
