Junpei is a rather upbeat sophomore at Gekkoukan High School who loves cracking jokes. He resides in the same class with the protagonist and Yukari and relates to the protagonist since being a transfer student himself. Junpei has a habit of charging headfirst into situations without much thought for the consequences of his actions. He develops a rivalry with the protagonist despite sharing a close bond with him. Junpei's Persona is Hermes.
