After an assignment gone wrong at an archaeological dig in Sudan, Marc Spector is killed – and brought back to life by Khonshu, the ancient Egyptian god of the moon. In return for his life, Khonshu makes Marc his avatar, and tasks him with carrying out acts of vengeance. Basically Marvel's dark Batman
