Born near South Neo-San Francisco to immigrant parents from México, Luna Cruz was never fully aware of her psychic abilities until her early teens.
Luna, now known by the code name ES88, lives and works full time at the MINERVA campus in El Nuevo Cerrito, CA where she spends most of her time with her two close friends and colleagues, GATE and TRACE. Plucky, witty and eager, ES88 brightens up any room she’s in.
MINERVA is about to give her the biggest assignment yet, tracking down a powerful rogue psychic known as Golden Butterfly. To help her with the case is the Neurodiver, a synthetic esper that will help her repair the memories Golden has fragmented, and capture them once and for all.
ES88 is a second-generation Mexican-American character, and as such some of the lines may have a blend of English and Spanish.

ES88: Ugh, I’m so hungry... I can’t wait to finally try this panadería. …We’ll be quick! You told me about their conchas, and now I can’t stop thinking about them. I need to have one.
TRACE: But if I’m gone too long, Harold will shut down the whole building…
ES88: Trace, slow down! It’s alright. MINERVA can survive five minutes without you.
ES88: GATE? Something happened back at the bar during the dive. After I got out. I think some of my memories were blending into hers.
GATE: What do you mean?
ES88: I saw my own memories as corruptions... It’s never happened before. I don’t know what’s wrong. And then, I don’t remember finishing the dive. It felt like I just woke up and you and Jess were talking.
GATE: Have you been sleeping well lately? The Esper handbook recommends up to 10 hours a day of rest.
GATE: If not, you could really hurt yourself.
ES88: I thought I was getting enough rest, but now everything is mixing and I can’t tell the difference between dreams and reality.
ES88: Finally, we get to leave MINERVA’s campus! I feel so great! Like I’m unstoppable!
GATE: I’m glad, but I want you to be careful. Take some time to rest.
ES88: I’ll rest when I’m dead!
