Ryu is a notably arrogant and vicious individual, reveling in dominating and crushing those he deems to be beneath him. He gets a noticeable rise out of beating down people who rise to his provocations and gets visibly irritated when people don't react the way he wants them to. Ryu is supremely confident in his own strength, having realized his immense natural talent and power from an early age, which led to him developing a stifling superiority complex. His superiority complex was shattered completely after he suffered his first defeat at the hands of Yu, causing him to experience the emotions that come with a crushing defeat and making him cry like a 5 year old for the first time in his life.
