DIRECTION - LINE 1
This is the line where she gets shot with the tranquilizer. Basically after she gets shot with the dart she should sound really crazy and wild. Honestly I'd love to hear your own interpretation here as this is definitely the scene where you can get really creative on how you portray the character and play around with your voice. Go nuts and have lots of fun with this one and remember, The crazier the better!
DIRECTION - LINE 2
This is after she wakes up infront of the news caster and gets shot again. Again, Have fun with this one.
DIRECTION - LINE 3
This is to test singing as there is a few lines of that in the script. I changed all of the lyrics to fit the scene better (I had to change them anyway). Now, You don't have to be a great singer (It might actually benefit you more if you're not)! this is during the hallucination scene and you can choose which way to sing this (I've put a few ideas in the line itself to help!). LINE 1 - TRANQUILIZER
The gang gets surrounded by a whole swat team in grand central. There are several officers in a circular formation around the animals holding bullet proof shields and there is a terrified animal control officer in the circle with a tranquilizer gun. He confuses Alex's attempts at communication as agression. Alex turns around to her friends in annoyance, confused as to why he doesn't seem to recognize or understand her. During this he shakily shoots a purple dart that lands in her behind. This causes Alex to jump and shout in pain.
ALEX
(Sigh)
"What's the matter with him?"
(Dart hits)
"OW!"
She hops around clutching her heinie in pain
ALEX
"OW, OW, OW, What the... Huh? He... He shot me in the butt! Ow..."
Alex stares at the dart with a look of confusion that then changes to a look of wonder as her pupils dilate and she puts on a big goofy grin like she's stoned as the sedative starts taking effect.
ALEX
(giggle)
(under breath)
"Wooooaaaahhhhhh."
Melman (still blind with the clock on his head) speaks up
MELMAN
"Alex?! What's going on? Are they petting you? Aw no I knew this was a bad idea I knew we should've-"
(continues rambling and pacing in the back)
Alex's sentences start to get more nonsensical as the dart takes over her mind. She sounds drunk and slurs her speech.
ALEX
"Heeeeeyyyyy relax Melman ahm *hic* ahm finnneeeee maannn ahm chill it's jusht, Ma butt feels all..."
(Whispery)
"Tingly..."
(Giggle)
"But this isn't bad... Thish is good! Oh it feels-"
(deep voice)
"It feels soooooooo gooooooodddd..."
(giggle)
"Ooooohhhhhhhh..."
She starts dancing around the circle as classical music plays, laughing maniaclly before falling on her face.
ALEX
(Maniacal laughter)
(Yawn)
(Seductive/sultry voice)
"Mmmmmmmm, catch me boyyyyssssssss..."
(Normal)
(Muffled)
"OoH!"
She rolls over to see her friends staring down at her in confusion. Alex speaks very softly and lovingly as she starts falling asleep. This makes her sound more weak and boosts her mushy emotions.
ALEX
"Wow! Hoo! Man. Ah feel really really uh... Weeeearrrrrddddd"
(giggle)
(super stoned/ relaxed voice)
"Heeeeyyy, Awwwwww ah love you guyysssss."
(Giggle)
(yawn)
"Ah- *hic* mmmm, I love you all-"
(whispery)
"shhhooooooo mucccchhhhhhh."
(Sleepy giggle)
(Blows kiss)
(Whispery)
"Nightie night babies..."
LINE 2 - CRATE SCENE
Alex's voice is quiet here after just waking up in the hard crate. She only raises it to a normal volume level when she goes to speak to an animal control officer for help.
ALEX
(Light breathing)
(weakly)
"Mmmmm... Mmmmmmmmm... Ugh... M-my, My head... Ow... Huh? Wh-Where? Oh. People."
(sigh of relief)
"Everything's gonna work out."
ALEX
(Clears throat)
(Raises voice)
"H-Hey... Psst, Hey mister! Little help?"
ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER
"SHE'S AWAKE! SHE'S AWAKE!"
Everyone immediatley starts freaking out and running away. Alex misinterprets this as the people freaking out in excitement while a barrage of darts get shot at her with one hitting her outstreched paw.
ALEX
"Awww, Come on guys, Bring it in!"
(Dart hits)
"OW! OOH! What the..."
She turns her paw around and sees a blue dart stuck in the middle.
ALEX
"Aww maaannnn. Not again."
(Giggle)
(Big sniff)
(Dreamy voice)
"Ahhhhhh, such a pretty flower. Sssssssoooooooo sweeeeeeeetttttt..."
(Snoring)
(Hallucination x2 speed)
LINE 3 - HALLUCINATION SONG
In this scene alex hallucinates after being shot by the dart. She sings a parody of the candyman with police officers being her backup singers. She should basically sound extremely drunk and everything's super trippy and moving in slow motion. You can even add a deep voice at times if you want to experiment and go all out with the slow motion idea! Go all out here.
ANNOUNCER
(Pitched down)
"Ladies and gentlemen, Central park zoo is proud to present. Alex, Tha lion!"
ALEX
"Hit it girls"
A few female police officers play a tape and the candyman from willy wonka plays, Alex starts singing a different version of it.
ALEX
(Drunk like singing)
"Who can take a sharp darrrttt?"
ALEX
"*Hic* Full ah shleepy juice?"
(giggle)
ALEX
"Shoot cha right in tha butt and getcha feelin nice and loose."
ALEX
(Whispery)
"Tha policemaaaannnn."
(giggle)
ALEX
"Ohhhhh tha policsheman can."
ALEX
"Tha policesh boy can cosh he shoots me in ma butt and"

"Sweet dreams gentlemen."
A police officer suddenly throws a baton from across the room that hits Alex on the head, putting an end to her hallucination as stars appear and then fade to darkness.
ALEX
"OWCH!"
