He is the one who judges all the souls who enter heaven or hell. However, he seems rather warm and friendly, not exactly what you’d expect for the Grim Reaper. SPOILERS: He is revealed later to actually be Darius, an angel from Heaven who fell to the Ring of the Slightly Damned, and took care of three young demons. This fatherly angel gives them everything, and to the young demons’ knowledge, he also gave his life for them. NOTE: As death, he wears a mask, which is actually a skull of one of the Cerberus heads. Death and Darius should have two distinct voices, but come from the same actor. Death will also have a slight filter to his voice. The audience (for those who don’t read the comic) should be absolutely shocked that Death is revealed to be Darius.
NOTE: I'm looking for someone fatherly, let me hear that in your voice!
(Death) As you can see, your evil slightly outweighs the good. You cannot enter heaven, and purgatory has no place for you.
(Darius) I am sorry, Sakido. Your mother is… she… she is gone. Your mother is not returning. But you do not have to be alone. You can come with me and Iratu. Do… would you like that?
(Darius) Little Iratu has been following me ever since. He told me he was separated from his parents. But now we can keep each other company, so neither of us will be lonely. I just wish his teeth weren't so sharp... I never would have guessed that I'd be enjoying the company of a demon from Hell. I was always taught that Demons were terrible, sinful beasts from the day they were born until the day they died. But ever since I met Iratu I've begun to question what I've been taught. I wonder what everyone back in heaven would say?
