Gain is either too high for simple dialogue or you're too close to mic.
I don't know why, but when I record with audacity using my current recording set up, the unedited audio is incredibly quiet and only appears in one track. So I try to edit the audio and... maybe the editing didn't work out too well. I could try again if you'd like.
