Hello! Thank you for auditioning! :D Here is my feedback and tips I've come up with that could help your improvement! 1. Your microphone I checked your profile and it says that you use an AT2020USB+, but in this audition, it didn't sound like said microphone. It sounds more like you were using the built-in microphone on your PC. The audio wasn't super clear and it was really distorted. If you haven't already, try checking if the microphone is connected to the right input! Here is a link of a quick guide: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to-set-up-and-test-microphones-in-windows-10-ba9a4aab-35d1-12ee-5835-cccac7ee87a4 If you find out that there have been a different microphone on the mic input settings just now, change it to your actual microphone! if you already have your mic set, then I don't know what to tell you other than that the microphone may have broken down or lost its quality. (ALSO, check your audio recording program's mic input too! you might have missed it there too.) 2. Room and reverb From what I could gather from the audio, it did seems like the room you auditioned in had a lot of reverb. Try avoiding such rooms that bring even the smallest reverb. If you don't have any other rooms that have that kind of quality, use blankets and pillows all around you. Surround yourself in soft materials that will prevent your voice from extending throughout the room and harshly reflect back to your mic. The microphone should only be catching your voice, not the reflection of your voice or ANY other sound. 3. Quick thing about audio quality. I haven't checked what file format you uploaded this in, but I'd recommend always exporting audio as wav. format file, as it is a better quality audio file. AND distortions in audio can be made from using too much noise reduction in audio editing, so if you have done that too, try only using medium noise reduction effect on places in your audio where you don't talk, and minimal noise reduction effect on when you speak. 4. THE ACTING It does sound like you are kind of scared of your environment, or specifically, waking someone up, so you sound like you are holding back some of your shouting and your expression in the lines. One should not be holding back if there are lines telling them to do the opposite. Though if you do shout, I recommend lowering the mic input volume through the mic itself, or in the audio program you use to record. this should stop the audio from distorting if you go too loud. And if it's too low after recording, you can pump up the volume in post so that it's equal high volume with the rest of the lines. That's all I had to say, I'm terribly sorry for writing this so long, I am just very passionate about voice acting, and I always love to give feedback and try to help out as much as I can! If you have any questions, I'd love to answer them! and if there is anything else you want me to elaborate on, again, I'd love to answer! You have a good voice, and I wish you luck on future auditions, my friend! :D
So sorry for the long reply, I'm really damn passionate about the subject of voice acting and improving ones skill in that area. I hope it isn't too difficult to read the awfully tight but massive comment I made, haha. I wish you the best of luck in future auditions my friend :D
Thank you so much for the feedback. The mic is th AT2020+, however, it is plugged in using the USB directly to my pc. I can't afford an audio interface yet. The reverb, I am trying to fix the closet in that room but haven't finished yet. Everything was very helpful, thank you.
ofc! happy auditioning! :D
