Okay, so this is a really important character in this series. He first shows up in Episode Two as someone we least expect, and has his identity revealed to viewers by Episode Three.

He is essentially the same Thomas Elliot from the comics, minus a few added characteristics that I wrote in for more originality...

For starters, while he's still a neurosurgeon//physician by day, this version of Tommy is also a copycat crime-fighting vigilante by night, who, after the events of The Dark Knight, ironically ends up despising the Batman's "no-kill" rule/cape crusading methods, hence he decides to take matters into his own, aggravated hands, in hopes of eradicating the scum of Gotham, one head at a time, regardless of who or what gets in his way.

That dual-identity gimmick should be enough of a hint as to what direction I'm taking this character in.

Since this is set in the Nolan-verse, I don't want him to sound campy or over-the-top, but rather realistic and frightening in approach.

For Tommy's regular speaking voice, he was born in London (related to Alfred, who makes his Wayne connection), but raised in America, more specifically Gotham, and more feasibly regional (lol), Chicago//New York.

I had a Michael C. Hall//Michael Fassbender-type in mind -- kinda respectable, confident, charming, two-faced -- and for his alter-ego, Hush, think Rorshach from Watchmen (2009) -- a deep, clenched rasp, speaking through his teeth, resentful -- or look to a few iterations of Batman done before, with an added layer of hatred or anger within, making this take sound quite a bit like Jon Bernthal's Punisher (similarly sadistic), which has mostly a gruffy texture that sounds a little bit like a whisper, but a nuanced one at that.

Remember that Christian Bale's Batman is also set in this universe; so it'd be really fun to have that dynamic banter on-screen, both sounding like terrifying monsters & intimidating villains, but not sounding goofy, much less similar to each other.

Good luck, and thanks for reading!

  • [As Thomas Elliot]

Maybe you need to put your foot back down. Maybe it's time you reintroduced who he was supposed to be, and how you saw him. Not a righteous hero, not a side of Bruce Wayne, and not what the city wants, but what the city needs... an opposing force, fit for good, someone willing to make the tough choices.

  • [As Hush]

I'm disappointed, Batman. You're pathetic... you're incapable... and you're dying.

  • [As Thomas Elliot]

Thanks to Alfred, you survived. Any longer with several broken ribs, a swollen scapula, bruised clavicle, and a horribly torn knee, Gotham's prince would've bitten the dust. You're going to need mild surgery, Mister Wayne.
